John Smith is the main protagonist of the novel. He is 15years old and one of the nine Lorien children living and hiding on Earth.
Sarah Hart is John Smiths girlfriend and Mark James ex-girlfriend. She was a cheerleader before she broke up with Mark James and fell in love with photography.
Sam Goode is John Smiths best friend. He is devoted in believing in aliens and alien conspiracies. He believes his father was abducted by an alien.
Bernie Kosar is John Smiths pet dog. He accompanied number four (John) to Earth but under a different name Hadley. Bernie Kosar is a special creature called a Chimæra who was sent to protect number four (John,)
Mark James is the quarterback for the school football team and a bully. He is bitter towards John when he sees how much Sarah likes him. After a fight on Halloween Mark leaves John alone and at the end of the book saves Johns life.
- Telekinesis - like John six can move objects using her mind
- Invisibility- Six can make herself invisible, she is able to make other objects and things invisible too by just touching them/it. Johns grandfather also had this legacy.
- Elemental Manipulation- Six can control the four basic elements : Earth, Air, Fire and Water. This means she can also control the weather by mixing all these .elements together
Henri is the Cêpan of John, or Number Four. He had a wife and child on his home planet of Lorien, but he left them to protect and train John when Lorien was destroyed. He is John's caretaker and also trains and teaches John as John's legacies form. He is like a father to John since he was forced to leave his grandparents behind on Lorien.
